| Brief Description: | The Dentist(s) will be introduced to the surgical phases of implant cases (of simple & moderate difficulty level). The fundamental rationale will be presented on treatment planning, radiographic assessment, choosing the appropriate implant, risk factors, healing abutment selection, surgical placement, bone grafting, esthetic considerations and occlusion. Extraction Socket Preservation, Lateral Ridge Augmentation & Immediate Implant Placement in the Fresh Extraction Socket will be discussed in lecture format in detail. Participants will perform hands-on surgeries and implant placement in simulation. The Dentist(s) will then perform up to 2-3 surgeries on their patients (depending on the number of participants) on the 2nd day of this customized course. At least one of the surgeries must be a single implant case. Screening of potential patients must be completed at least 2-3 weeks in advance by sending appropriate records to Dr. Irinakis. |
| Educational Objectives : | At the completion of this course, participants will: 1. Understand the methodology and rationale for single & multiple implant placement. 2. Develop protocols to implement treatment planning strategies (which may involve bone grafting and or immediate implant placement) 3. Demonstrate the techniques required for the surgical phases of low and moderate difficulty level implant therapy 4. Manage postoperative phase and/or problems of the uncomplicated implant patient. |
